Week 5 term 3

Sticky Question Time!

(these people are called planespotters, it is a real hobby!)

We could not fly anywhere - anymore.
What would happen?
What would change? What would be the same?
What would be better? What would be worse?

We are looking forward to reading all your great ideas.

  2. The good points of not using aeroplanes travel and freight is that would less air pollution. We could make electric aeroplanes so we could still travel to other countries. If we used ships instead of aeroplanes for freight it would take much longer for everyone to get their parcels. There would be more ships in the sea because people would use ships to travel to other countries but it would take many days and months to get another country. So things would not be the same.

    1. Remington,

Actually you raise a really good point about electric aeroplanes here. Apparently a aeroplane maker from Europe would like to develop and test an electric aeroplane here in NZ/ How cool is that ! Check out this link - maybe copy and paste it into your browser.

The basically want to use a small electric plane to take passengers from places like Nelson to Wellington without using petrol or aviation gasoline.

Your point about more ships in the sea is worth also thinking about as well. I wonder if we came up with some other kind of fuel that this might not be such a problem.

  3. This will be a very selfish answer to being with because I have a daughter in London and I really want to be able to fly and see her. I also love travelling to different countries and having new experiences. I believe that by visiting other countries we learn how others live and we learn to be tolerant and open-minded.

I am not sure what would happen but already with being locked into our own country I take more time to find out about Aotearoa and visit places I have never been to before.

  4. Kia ora Teachers,
I think it would be very hard because, you would have to walk for weeks to get somewhere. We wouldn't be able to transport things easily. We would have to use hot air balloons instead of airplanes.

  5. Oh Mischa I do like that idea of Hot Air balloons! Have you ever seen one or been in one? I once had a flatmate who was a hot air balloon pilot! It can be very quiet then suddenly very noisy.
Another problem I just thought of is that more people get seasick than airsick.

  6. Kia ora teachers,
It wouldn't be that bad because when you are doing your school work you wouldn't need to stop. But the only bad thing is that is you want to travel around the world in 2 months it would take 8 months if you are not on a plane they are actually quite handy if you want to travel around the world.

  7. Kia ora Teachers,
It would not be so bad because it would be less nosey. and also you just drive to the place you want to go to. or you could just walk to the place you want to go to.

if we had no plans then how would you get a job as a pilot or even a engineer also you can not travel in the air and you will not get to your destination faster then a ferry.

I think it won't be a bad idea because planes are so much money and you can just g on a boat and on a boat there is heaps of things like food court and an arcade machine.

    1. Aha - good thinking that sound like a fun way to travel! Is that what it is like on the ferry to Wellington now?

  10. Hi Teachers
I think that it would be really good because than that way like at school when someone is talking sometimes a plane always goes by, so you could just use something like a car and a boat so that you can go on land and sea.

  11. Kia Ora Teachers,
I think it would be bad we wouldn't be able to travel and if our families live in different Countries we wouldn't be able to see them. We would still be able to go to school still.

    1. Well you could but it would take weeks to get there by boat instead of hours by plane - so your holiday time would be all used up by travel. That would be a bit frustrating.

if you couldn't go in a airplane you could just go in a boat but it would be longer.

  13. Hi class,
At school we normally have planes go past and when someone is talking we can't hear them. If there was a family member they might never see you. I think it would be bad to not have planes around.

  15. Hi Kaylee,
Yes we do hear the planes - what would it be like if we didn't hear them? If people couldn't fly to other countries, what would it be like for people like Lachlan who want to travel to see family?
    Keep on thinking!

  16. Hi Class,

I think that if we didn't have planes then that would be bad because if you wanted to go to Australia then you wouldn't be able to. Also you wouldn't be able to fly a flying car because no one would be able to have a pilot licence because you have to have fly a plane to get that licence.

  17. Hi Class
I think that if we did not have planes than things would be very boring because you could not go anywhere on holiday overseas.
