We had some great responses to our sticky question last week. Thanks go to our Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atu buddies from St Mary's in Gisborne for their fabulous responses. We hope you enjoyed reading our responses too.
This week's sticky question builds on the story of Rapunzel. You all know the fairy tale and how it traditionally ends but in our sticky question there is a new ending. Have a read ...
Well? What should she ask the mirror about the world? Why should she ask that particular question? Looking forward to reading your thoughts.
Kia Ora Te Mahuri,
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulously interesting question this week. This has sparked my imagination so I thought I'd give you my answer too.
If I was Rapunzel and had been trapped in a tower all my life, my knowledge of the world would only be what I could see all around me, and what I have been told.
I would definitely be quite nervous about leaving and going out into the great unknown. I would be putting a lot of faith into the differing opinion of a stranger (the prince).
Having a magical mirror would be great, to be able ask it any question would definitely help me decide if I wanted to be adventurous or not.
So, my question to the mirror would be:
What does my future outside this tower look like?
I would hope it would show me not only events but how I was feeling at those events too.
I wonder...If you had the choice, would you want to know the future? If you couldn't change it, is it better to just not know what is coming? Do you think maybe the magic is lost in knowing the answer?

Hello Erica Steele. Thank you for commenting on our stick question for this week. I think if i were Rapunzel I would ask the magic mirror, What Would The Outside Be Like?
DeleteI think being trapped up there all my life then seeing someone to save me I would ask that so I would know what it would be like when I go to the Kingdom.
I think it would be useful to have a magic mirror if I needed to know more about the Kingdom if the first question does not release all the information.

Hi Dylan,
DeleteI really like the way you have thought about your answer. You haven't assumed that you would only get to ask just one question.
I think that if Rapunzel was to go with the Prince she would have access to the mirror to ask other questions too.
Sometimes you just have to be brave an adventurous for great things to become possibilities.
Erica
What are the people like that live outside the tower. I hope they are kind. Will I be safe with the prince.
ReplyDeleteWhat is going to happen if I go outside the castle? What is this prince like?

ReplyDeleteHI I would ask the mirror what will happen when I go and I think this because if something bad is going to happen then I will now and not do it and then I will be safe
ReplyDeleteMy questions are: What will happend when i go out and How will the prine behave?
ReplyDeleteHi Miss Taylor, I would ask to the magic mirror, is it safe outside this place? Is there people crowded around there? I do not hope so. I do not hope so because I could get lost outside this castle.

Hi Mrs Taylor and Mrs Dods. The first thing that comes to my mind what will the people be like and what would the outside world look like. I mean of course I look out the window and grass trees and flowers but if there houses or towns or big, tall buildings. Are the people gonna be nice or mean? If I was trapped in that tower I would probably not like it in there.
